JGT 50th Anniversary

Message on Our 50th Anniversary

JTEKT GRINDING TOOLS CORPORATION will celebrate its 50th anniversary in April 2025. This milestone has been achieved thanks to the support of our business partners, cooperating companies, JTEKT CORPORATION and the JTEKT Group companies, Saint-Gobain K.K., and the local community, including the town of Maigi, and for this I am deeply grateful. I would also like to express my deep gratitude and appreciation to our predecessors who built our company's history, our employees for their unwavering efforts, and their families for their support.

Our company was established in April 1975 as Toyoda Van Moppes Co., Ltd. through a joint venture between the former Toyoda Machine Works (now JTEKT) and L.M. Van Moppes & Sons (now Saint-Gobain). Since then, we have steadily continued our business as the only grinding wheel manufacturer in the Toyota Group. During this time, we have faced dramatic changes in the business environment, including the collapse of the bubble economy, the prolonged recession often called the "lost decade," the Lehman Shock, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout these challenges, we have consistently focused on developing new technologies and products while conducting sales activities that closely address our customers' needs, and thereby meeting their expectations. In 2022, we changed our company name to JTEKT GRINDING TOOLS CORPORATION, taking a new step forward.

The environment surrounding our company has become increasingly challenging in recent years. The automotive industry is experiencing a once-in-a-century transformation, and contributing to CO2 emissions reduction has become our social mission. Meanwhile, the development of digital transformation, represented by generative AI, is drawing attention as a new pathway to solving these challenges.

In this context, we are aiming to realize "Reborn Project," the core of our medium-term management plan. We will advance further quality improvements in our foundation and continue productivity enhancements while focusing on the semiconductor field as a new business pillar. To achieve this, we will further evolve our "core competencies" and, as a "solution provider," stay close to our customers to provide value that exceeds their needs. We will also develop our employees as "human assets" that form the foundation of the company's growth and strive to be a company that our employees can be proud of.

Our 50th anniversary also marks the start of the next 50 years. As a company that "continues to grow with our customers," we will devote effort and evolve toward the next era.

We sincerely ask for your continued guidance and support going forward.

Yoshiki Mochizuki President
